The winner of the 2018 Bioinspiration & Biomimetics Steven Vogel Young Investigator Award is Dr Silvia Vignolini from the University of Cambridge. Dr Vignolini uses optics to understand the assembly of naturally occurring photonic structures (such as cellulose) into complex architectures .
